Please see the attached information for rationale on best practice. We are making choice reading a priority for our students in 6-12 grade. Students are reading 10-15 minutes each day in class, research by Penny Kittle has shown this to greatly increase student achievement. We are also using a program called Study Island - the skills available within this program are specifically tied to the Common Core Standards. Study Island studies have show that 30 minutes of use per week have a dramatic impact on student achievement.
